1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing this website, enrolling in any class, retreat, or teacher training programme, or communicating with Witness Yoga through any channel — including WhatsApp, email, or contact forms — you confirm that you have read, understood, and agreed to these Terms of Service in their entirety. If you do not agree, please do not use this website or enrol in any programme.

2. About Witness Yoga

Witness Yoga is a yoga school and wellness practice based in Tapovan, Rishikesh, offering daily yoga, meditation, and pranayama classes; yoga and meditation retreats of 3, 5, 7, and 15 days; a 200-Hour Yoga Teacher Training registered with Yoga Alliance; and associated breathwork and healing programmes through our parent brand, Divine Circle. The lead teacher and founder is Shiva Shankra.

3. Eligibility

To participate you must be at least 18 years of age (or 16–18 with written parental consent), be in a physical and mental condition appropriate for the programme, disclose any relevant medical, physical, or psychological conditions prior to enrolment, and not be under the influence of alcohol or recreational substances during any session. Witness Yoga reserves the right to decline enrolment or ask any participant to leave if their participation poses a risk to themselves or others, or if their conduct is disruptive or inconsistent with the values of the community.

4. Bookings & Confirmation

Classes: drop-ins confirmed on payment; 5-class packages valid 30 days from first use. Witness Yoga may cancel or reschedule classes with reasonable notice where possible. Retreats and teacher training: enrolment is confirmed on receipt of a non-refundable deposit; the balance is due 14 days before the start date. Places are limited and allocated first-confirmed, first-served. Witness Yoga may decline any application where, in the considered judgment of the lead teacher, the programme is not the right fit at this time.

5. Cancellation & Refunds

Classes: non-refundable once attended; notify us 4+ hours ahead to reschedule a booked class. Packages are non-refundable; unused classes in an expired package are forfeited unless an extension was agreed in writing. Retreats: deposits non-refundable. Cancellation 30+ days before start — full balance refund minus deposit; 15–30 days — 50% of balance; under 15 days — no balance refund. If Witness Yoga cancels a retreat, all payments including the deposit are refunded, or transferred to another date at your choice. Teacher training: deposits non-refundable. Cancellation 45+ days before start — full balance refund minus deposit; 21–45 days — 50%; under 21 days — no balance refund. If Witness Yoga cancels or postpones a training, all payments transfer to the next available date or are refunded in full at the student’s request.

6. Programme Content

Witness Yoga reserves the right to modify class content, retreat itineraries, and curricula in the interest of quality, safety, or circumstances beyond our control. Core programme commitments will always be honoured; specific schedules, visiting teachers, or excursions may change.

7. Yoga Alliance Certification

The 200-Hour Teacher Training is registered with Yoga Alliance as an RYS 200 programme. On successful completion of all requirements — attendance, assessments, and practical teaching — graduates receive a certificate of completion and are eligible to register independently as an RYT 200. Witness Yoga makes no guarantee of employment, income, or career outcomes.

8. Intellectual Property

All content on this website and in our programmes — written content, photographs, videos, course materials, training manuals, and programme designs — is the intellectual property of Witness Yoga and Shiva Shankra unless otherwise stated. It may not be reproduced, distributed, or used commercially without prior written permission. The teacher training manual is for personal use only.

9. Code of Conduct

All participants agree to treat teachers, staff, and fellow participants with respect, kindness, and dignity; to maintain the sacred and supportive nature of the learning environment; to refrain from alcohol, recreational drugs, or any intoxicating substance for the duration of retreats and trainings; and to maintain appropriate personal boundaries. Witness Yoga reserves the right to remove any participant without refund for violation of this code.

10. Governing Law

These terms are governed by the laws of India. Disputes are subject to the jurisdiction of the courts of Uttarakhand, India.

Participation involves inherent risks, including physical injury and — particularly in breathwork and intensive meditation — the surfacing of strong emotions. By participating in any Witness Yoga programme you acknowledge that: you are voluntarily participating at your own risk; Witness Yoga programmes are not a substitute for medical or psychiatric diagnosis or treatment; you should consult a qualified physician before participating if you are pregnant, have cardiovascular conditions, high or low blood pressure, respiratory conditions, recent injuries or surgeries, epilepsy, or any diagnosed mental health condition; and you are responsible for practicing within your own limits and informing your teacher of any conditions or discomfort before and during sessions.

Participation Waiver

In consideration of being permitted to participate in classes, retreats, or trainings at Witness Yoga, each participant agrees, to the fullest extent permitted by law: to assume all risks associated with participation; to release and hold harmless Witness Yoga, its founder, teachers, and staff from any liability for injury, loss, or damage arising from ordinary negligence in connection with participation; to be responsible for their own belongings; and to confirm that the health information they provide is complete and accurate. This waiver does not exclude liability that cannot be excluded under Indian law. A physical copy of this waiver is signed on arrival for retreats and teacher trainings.
